Current Programs

252 Basics252 Basics
252Basics is a unique approach to curriculum for churches and Christian schools. It is built around three Basic Truths every child should embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52: “…and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man.”

  • I need to make the wise choice.
  • I can trust God no matter what.
  • I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Each Basic Truth is amplified by a weekly key concept and systematically taught over a three-year track. The curriculum includes 150 Bible stories and is based on a Core Virtue and Memory Verse as the framework for each month.

Little Tykes
Little Tykes are “Discovering God’s Love” using Learning Centers. Each week the kids make their way through the Learning Centers and as they do so the Bible story or Bible principle being taught is being reinforced in fun, attention grabbing ways and lots of action and interaction. It’s great fun and is taught by a team of some of our youth who do a most excellent job of teaching and loving these little ones.

Other Programs

Periodically, MHCC Children’s Ministry uses other programs as described below:

World Watchers
World Watchers
“World Watchers” is a course designed by us at Mount Helena Community church to teach children about different countries, people, and cultures and how God is working in others. Each child receives a MHCC passport and “visits” countries such as Belgium, Romania, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Afghanistan, and China.

We believe that God’s heart is for the nations of the world. It is our vision to impart to our children a heart for the nations.
As teachers, we believe that we can impart the heart of God to our children by:

  1. Having fun!
  2. Exposing our children to different cultures.
  3. Praying for the people of the countries that we “visit.”

Workshop Rotation
Over a three week period, the lessons in this workshop-based program focus on a single biblical story and/or Bible truth. There are three lab-style workshops: the first workshop we’ve created is the Master’s Theater, where we use film as our medium, secondly, we use art in the Creation Station, and third, we have created the T.E.N.T. Room, a fun comfortable environment, as a backdrop for drama. Students rotate each week from workshop to workshop using the different mediums provided to learn and retain the biblical truths being taught.
